My latest work for sale

This blog shows my latest work that I have created for sale. I am currently making bags with the theme of Urban Divas.

My inspiration comes from the Self Portrait work started by Quilt Art magazine. I love doing the faces and developing nuances of expression.

I design each face individually, drawing inspiration for each as finish each stage. Each is basically fused fabric that is satin-stitched, the face is fused to a background that is quilted onto a poly-wool batting. Upholstery and denims are the main fabrics for the backs, sides and handles. The back of the bag is also quilted. The bags are lined with cotton.

I have made several styles, most are shoulder bags, each measures about 33-35 cm long by 30 cm wide (13.5" by 12") with the shoulder strap making the bag sit comfortably at hip level. As seen in the photos, the shapes are either long, with a narrowed throat, long and squared, or more horizontal with the same dimensions.Please email if you are interested in purchasing any bag. Virginia

Virginia had opinions about many things. She was the diva of the last word.

Virginia is appliquéd on navy and white linen and embellished with feathers, knitted yarn hair and buttons.
The back of the bag is denim.

Venus

Venus

Venus suspected that the combination of botox and collagen had not been the success she had been expecting.

Venus is appliquéd on a black viscose fabric which is also used for the back of the bag. Embellishment is with braid and Angelina fibre used for the hair.

Mary-lyn

Mary-lyn

Mary-lyn had much to smile about, but today she just wanted to think about what could make her sad if she let it. The diva of good times is how she saw herself.

Mary-lyn is appliquéd on a peach linen and embellished with mother-of-pearl earings and a hand made rose for the fastening. The back of the bag is black and taupe upholstery fabric.

Marge

Marge
Marge is said to have been born with a martini and a cigarette. Her latest passion has become the wearing of “fascinators” and is the self-proclaimed cocktail circuit diva.

Marge is on a cream and black linen with buttons, feathers and knitted yarn hair. The back of the bag is black and taupe upholstery fabric.

Jacqueline

Jacqueline
Jacqueline had broken many hearts in her short life. She loved too easily and regretted that her chosen mates did not live up to expectation. She is truly the diva of disappointment.

Jacqueline is placed on a brown linen background and embellished with red mohair hair and buttons. The back of the bag is cream/grey upholstery fabric.

Estelle

Estelle

Estelle knew she was destined for greatness. As a five year old playing her grandmother’s piano it had been clear to her that she would be a star. What she had not anticipated was that she would also be the mother of a teenage girl.

Estelle is on a linen background and embellished with buttons, knitted yarn hair and ribbon. The bag back is black and taupe upholstery fabric.

Dolores

Dolores

Dolores always hoped for a simple life, one lived in a nice blue house with a white picket fence. Being a scientist with NASA was not a simple life and the diva of small pleasures was resigned to her fate.

Dolores is appliquéd onto a lime shot georgette over a lime/grey/yellow rayon. The back of the bag is black and taupe upholstery fabric. Georgette leaves adorn feathered yarn hair and a hand made rose completes the fastening.

Bubbles

Bubbles

Bubbles knows when to say no an when to have FUN. Bubbles is the most organised girl in town and known to many as the Palm Pilot diva.

Bubbles is on a charcoal linen background with black and taupe upholstery fabric back. Pearl button ear rings, assorted buttons and a hand made rose on the fastening complete the embellishments.

Briony

Briony is a timid diva; in days of yore she would have been a debutant, but today she waits and dreams of the knight in shining armour as she makes another million on the stock market.

Briony is made with a black and cream linen check front with taupe and black upholstery fabric back. Embellishments include ribbon on the fastening and feather yarn for the hair.

Aisha

Aisha
Aisha was a real society diva. Always seen at the best openings, parties of the great and good and was a pillar of the fund raising circuit. Aisha also wore her Target underwear until it fell apart.

This bag is made of cotton upholstery fabric in a cream and grey combination. Embellishments include Christmas decoration and feathery yarn.

Things for sale

Agnes
Agnes was known throughout the district as the best librarian around. What everyone didn’t know was what a demon on the dance floor she was. Agnes is a dancing diva.

This bag has the face on a background of navy linen with denim sides and back. Embellishments are sequins, beads and knitted tweed wool hair.
